Role of the Form Tutor
The role of the Form Tutor is to be the first point of contact for both learners and parents. They are there to support learners and create an environment where they feel safe, valued and cared for. Form Tutors will also support academic achievement and deliver PSHE to their form groups.
Tutor Time/The Life Skills Curriculum
Learners will attend form time from 10.30-10.55 four days a week, with one day being used for an assembly delivered by their Learning Leader or a member of the Senior Leadership Team. A variety of topics will also be taught to form groups on a fortnightly basis through the life skills curriculum. Towards the end of Year 10, learners will also receive careers support and advice.
Learners in Year 10 will be expected to complete homework from each of their GCSE subjects on a weekly basis. Their subject teachers will set deadlines for each individual piece of work, this homework will support their GCSE courses and ensure that the learners are stretched and challenged so that they achieve their true potential.
Learners are encouraged to attend afterschool sessions which are offered to them across the curriculum which will support the learning in their GCSE subjects. We also encourage learners to take part in extra-curricular activities.
Throughout the year, learners will have the opportunity to take part in charity events, reward trips and community events. Later in the year, learners will have the opportunity to take part in further education and careers focused enrichment. This includes the opportunity for learners to arrange their own work experience towards the end of the final half term.
