Year 9 Theatre Trip: Noughts and Crosses

Lowry Salford Quays

On the 28th February Mr Brown and Miss Lowe took 26 Year 9 and 10 students to see a performance of Noughts and Crosses. This was a fantastic event which enabled students to experience true abstract stylised theatre and fully immerse themselves about the themes of terrorism, racial segregation and growing up in a world where two young people are forced to make a stand in this thought-provoking look at racism and prejudice in an alternate society. Sephy is a Cross — a member of the dark-skinned ruling class. Callum is a Nought — a “colourless” member of the underclass who were once slaves to the Crosses.

The students were a true credit to the school and thoroughly enjoyed the production. They look forwards to exploring key scenes and writing their live reviews for their examination. They thoroughly enjoyed seeing the build-up of dramatic tension and use of physical theatre techniques and interesting lighting techniques.
